Annual Band Trip

Every year the Falcon Regiment takes a trip to a different venue to perform the Concert Season repertoire. Since the opening of the school, the Falcon Regiment has traveled to the following locations for competitive performances:

  • Orlando FL,
  • New York City (Carnegie Hall),
  • Chicago,
  • Boston,
  • Atlanta,
  • London England,
  • Williamsburg VA,
  • Pigeon Forge, TN,
  • Honolulu, Hawaii

These trips are a high point for the students and to date, have been very successful.

Before the Trip

About a year before each trip, Mr. Minnick identifies potential destinations. In consultation with the MBA, he discusses the suggestions and makes the final selection, usually based on expected value for the student and overall trip costs.
When the trip is selected, a committee is formed to plan the trip. This committee comes up with a payment schedule for parents to pay for the trip. There are fundraising opportunities throughout the year for students to earn money to be applied to their student account.

On the trip

Our primary goal on the trip is student safety. We ensure that we have sufficient parent volunteers and that students are chaperoned at all times. Mr. Minnick has 20+ years of experience with band trips and has a multi-page set of guidelines that are very strict and ensure student safety. Each trip has performance opportunities as well as cultural and entertainment activities. Over the past years, the Band has performed in Carnegie Hall & Central Park, and London’s New Years Day Parade. They have cruised around New York City; enjoyed Universal Studios & Disney World; watched the Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras perform; attended Broadway shows; and seen performances such as Cirque du Soleil, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, and the Blue Man Group.

Chaperones and Volunteers

We encourage parents to volunteer to chaperone these trips and enjoy an experience that they will never forget. Every year, we need numerous chaperones and volunteers to help with the Band Trip. If you wish to volunteer, just respond to one of the Sign-Up Genius requests that will be emailed to you. If you are not receiving Sign-Up Genius emails, we might have an incorrect email address for you. In that case, click on the link below that says 'Contact the Boosters' and send us an email. You do not have to be a member of the Music Boosters to volunteer, although your membership is greatly appreciated!
